Marcus Carney

 


Marcus has successfully wrestled internationally in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.

 

Marcus is a gentle giant and is great at communicating techniques in an insightful and engaging way to his athletes.

Here are some of his career highlights:

  • Competed in the bronze medal match at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

  • 4th at the Commonwealth Championships in South Africa

  • Current national heavyweight Greco-Roman champion

  • Competed in MMA


He coaches on Thursday nights at Gladiator Wrestling and also offers personal training.

Nate Brown

 

Nate has been wrestling for many years, having started at the Bunbury club as a junior, where his father was the coach.  

 

Today Nate is still involved in wrestling and continues the family legacy by bringing his son Phoenix down to the club for training. 

Nate coaches the junior program here on Saturday mornings at 930am and is known for creating a high energy training environment that the kids love.


He is also available for personal training sessions.

Yashar Aghapor

 

What can we say about Yashar?  


The word ‘Legend’ comes to mind…

Yashar is a high-level wrestler from Iran, with a heart of gold and a will of iron.

Yashar now resides in Australia where he is the Senior Coach at Gladiator Wrestling. 

He assists Head Coach, Alan Landy with the development of the senior athletes.

Known for ruling the mat with an iron fist wrapped in velvet, Yashar always has his athletes' best interest at heart.

You can find Yash Coaching all throughout the week at Gladiators.

He is also available for both personal training.

TJ Pickering

 

TJ is an up and coming talent on the Australian Wrestling scene.  Now entering his 5th year at Gladiator Wrestling.  

TJ is a very amiable, friendly, fun and energetic coach that communicates very well with his athletes in a way that gets the best out of them. 

You will find TJ coaching the Junior class on Wednesdays and Saturdays and the Seniors Fundamental class. 

He is also available for personal training. 

Some of his notable achievements are:

  • Scholarship athlete at WA Institute of Sport

  • National 74kg champion.

  • Super Series Champion

  • WA State Champion

Amy Teo

 

Amy has just been named ‘The Most Outstanding Female’ freestyle wrestler in Western Australia.  Never has an athlete achieved this in such a short period of time.

Amy started her wrestling career, after coming to Gladiator Wrestling to improve her Jiu Jitsu.

Amy embraced the sport and through hard work, commitment to the process and a work ethic that is second to none, has won this coveted award.

Amy has now started coaching at Gladiator Wrestling as the women's coach at the club in the all women's class from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Monday nights.
 

We couldn't be more proud of you Amy.

Tom Barns

 

Tom came to Gladiator Wrestling as a 10-year-old and through his consistency, hard work and infectious smile, he has transformed into one of the best Wrestlers Australia has ever produced. 

Tom has won multiple State, National and Oceania championships and has represented Australia at the World Championships and the Junior Olympic Games.


Tom epitomizes hard work, dedication and an indomitable spirit.

You’ll find Tom coaching the Colts class on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  He is also available for personal training.
