About the Event
The Introduction to Wrestling Coaching course is designed to provide grapplers of any style with the skills and knowledge required to confidently deliver a beginners wrestling class to both adults and kids. In this one day program you will learn:
- The “Dirty Dozen” - The 12 fundamental moves of wrestling
- Drills and Games - For teaching stance, motion, hand fighting and takedowns in a engaging way
- The 3 lines of takedown defence - How to use your head, hands and hips to stop takedowns
- The 3 principles of a successful attack - Learn how to apply angle changing, level changing and faking to increase your athletes takedown success.
- Counter wrestling technique - How to stop a takedown and successfully counter it.
- Chain wrestling combinations - relentless takedown attacks.
- Standing escapes, reversals and leg defence
- Bottom strategies for defence and escapes
- Strategies for different styles and body types
- Introduction to the sport and its rules.
- Competition pathway opportunities for your athletes. - How to participate in interclub, local, national and international level competition opportunities
The course will be run by Alan Landy, Gladiator Wrestling head coach, Former Australian High Performance Manager, 2014 Commonwealth Games Wrestling Coach and multiple time national coach.
